Here at Northwest Sheds, we strive to make quality wooden storage sheds built on site. Since 1993, we have been a family owned and operated business currently based in Lake Tapps, WA. We mainly cater to King, Pierce, Kitsap, Thurston, and Snohomish counties; however, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions concerning location. Our outdoor wooden storage sheds are individually handcrafted utilizing carefully selected materials to ensure your wooden storage shed lasts as long as possible. Our outdoor storage sheds are as customizable as you want. Customers utilize storage sheds for many purposes. These can include office space, home gyms, man caves, she sheds, AUD dwellings, and cleaning out the garage. Let Northwest Sheds build you a high quality wooden storage shed on site in your backyard today. You won’t be disappointed with the product, service, or craftsmanship.
In our building process, our carpenters carefully and precisely cut each piece of wood to the correct specifications for the exact shed that you wanted. Choosing only the best materials for each of our sheds. On install day, each piece is carefully loaded up onto one of our vehicles and brought to your residence to be assembled on site, in your yard, exactly where you wanted it.
To do this our sheds start with 4x4 pressure treated skids underneath all buildings. These are made for ground contact and have a warranty against rot and corrosion for 40 years. We then use 2x4 floor joists every 12” and ½” plywood on top of the floor joists. This gives the floor a rating of 400 lbs per square foot. The Northwest poses some challenges when it comes to our climate. That’s why we use only locally sourced materials for all our wooden storage sheds. We use doug-fir; a premium hardwood, on our joists, studs, and rafters. The floor decking and roof sheeting is a ½” CDX plywood also made locally using local sources. The walls of your new storage shed built on site uses a ⅝” T1-11 sheathing, which overlaps the floor ensuring a water tight seal for your shed. We use a 30 year 3-tab Pabco self-sealing shingle also locally made in black, brown, and gray to choose from. At the end of the day our employee packs up their things and leaves you with a quality outdoor wooden storage shed.
On average, our storage shed builders take about 5-6 hours to complete your shed once we are on site. Our larger wooden storage sheds can take up to 8 hours to complete and two builders. However, most storage sheds built on site take just one builder and between 3-6 hours for a single skilled handyman. Our wooden storage sheds are built on site to accommodate the needs of the home owner. Many homeowners have unique access to their yards. By building on site, we are able to get any size shed through a 3’ gate along the side of your house. Another benefit to storage built on site is we can make sure the foundation of our shed is compact, level, and square. At Northwest sheds we double check with our customers to make sure we have your shed just where you wanted it. We are then able to ensure the floor of the shed is completely level and won’t settle over time which is another benefit to your shed being built on site. Our builders take pride in making sure your yard is taken care of during the whole process we are there. We pay attention to not destroy shrubbery, plants, and trees in your yard. When we are finished with your shed, your yard is as clean as it was before we started, no garbage left behind.
We provide three different types of storage sheds for you to choose from Cascade, Olympic, and Timberline. Each style is unique to fit each homeowner’s unique house and yard.
Our Cascade (house style) roof is our smallest at a 6x6 with a 6 foot sidewall. At its largest our Cascade style is a 12x16x11 with an 8 foot sidewall. Ideal for the backyard with HOA requirements.
The Olympic style has a barn style roof at its smallest is an 8x6x8 with a 4 foot sidewall. The largest Olympic shed offered is an 8x16x10 with a 7 foot sidewall. These barn style roofs are ideal for lofts and overhead storage.
Lastly, our Timberline style goes from a 10x8x8 with a 4 foot sidewall to a 10x20x11 with a 7 foot sidewall or even the 12x16x11 with a 7’ sidewall. These are our large barns with lots of interior storage space. Each wooden storage shed is built with the same materials ensuring that each shed is as high quality as the next. To make a custom shed built on site, take a look at our many options including: windows, a ramp, lofts of various sizes, vents, house doors, additional doors, and treated floor joist.
There are some customer site preparation that needs to be included before our builders come to build your custom storage shed. We ask that our builders have at least two feet of working space around all four sides of the shed. This means in order to build your custom shed on site, it will need to be at least 2 feet away from a fence, retaining wall, trees, and garages. We also require the area to be level within 5 inches. The surface can be grass, dirt, gravel, concrete, asphalt, just about any surface. Crushed gravel makes the best pad for your new custom wooden storage shed, if you have the time and resources, but not required. Your builder will also need a power source readily available. Northwest Sheds also does not include building permits, zoning or covenant searches, however they usually are not required. After your wooden storage shed is finished, it is up to the customer to caulk and paint the shed to ensure its longevity and warranty. Sheds like paint. Northwest Sheds guarantees all of our sheds installed on site with a 5 year warranty.
